Frequently Asked Questions
Is Medi-Share insurance?
No. Medi-Share is a Christian health care sharing ministry, not health insurance. Members contribute toward eligible medical expenses of other members according to the program’s guidelines. Unlike insurance, Medi-Share does not guarantee payment of medical bills.
Who can join Medi-Share?
Medi-Share membership includes agreeing to a Christian statement of faith and following the program’s membership guidelines, including its lifestyle requirements. Eligibility and membership requirements can change, so current requirements are available directly from
Medi-Share.
Is there an open enrollment period?
No. Medi-Share does not have an annual Open Enrollment Period like Marketplace health insurance. Eligible households can generally apply throughout the year, subject to the program’s current membership requirements.
How does Medi-Share 65+ work with Medicare?
Medi-Share 65+ is designed to work alongside Medicare rather than replace it. Medicare remains primary, while Medi-Share 65+ may provide sharing for eligible medical expenses according to the program’s guidelines. It is an alternative to a traditional Medicare Supplement, so the benefits, requirements, and protections are different.
How do I know if health care sharing is right for my family?
There isn’t one right choice for every household. Your health care needs, budget, priorities, and comfort with the program’s guidelines all matter. We can help you compare health care sharing with traditional insurance so you can understand the differences and make an informed decision.
